The canyon system has three canyons: Canyon de Chelly (pronounced "shay") to the south skirted by South Rim Drive, the smaller Black Rock Canyon in the center, and Canyon del Muerte skirted by North Rim Drive. Muerte is "death" in Spanish, no?
