US160 runs between Cortez and the famous Durango, CO. The turn to Mesa Verde is 8 miles from Cortez. The road in rises fairly rapidly, one thinks, to the park entrance. Then it climbs really rapidly with hairpin turns and warnings of falling rock. DO NOT STOP!
